UN committee to examine Armenia’s record on women’s rights

Armenia’s record on women’s rights will be examined by the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) on 4 November.

Armenia has ratified the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women and so is reviewed regularly by the Committee on how it is implementing the Convention.

Persistent stereotypes against women and girls, eradication of all forms of violence against women, high unemployment rate, Low education rates and early marriages among women in ethnic minorities are among the topics to be discussed between CEDAW and a delegation of the Armenian government.
