The problem with migrants is a complex issue, but when dealing with it one should not sink into radicalism, as the purpose of all radical organizations is to radicalize the open society, the frontman of System Of A Down Serj Tankian said in an interview with Lenta.ru.
According to him, first of all, it is necessary to find the root, the reason prompting people to migrate: war, militarists’ games or something else. He added that whatever the answer is, we are forced to deal with migration. As Serj Tankian noted, some people get to the countries without being insufficiently checked which brings to deadly consequences.
“But my history as immigrant (I’ve been living in the US since 1975) is an example of the fact that immigrants can be useful to the country to which they move,” said Tankian, noting that migration is a good phenomenon in general, but the state should check and asses those moving in.
In his opinion, the country will only benefit by accepting people who want to live in an open society, who want better future for their children. The musician said Europe complains that migrants commit crimes, but natives also commit offences.
