Buenos Aires, Argentina. On March 16, Edmond Azadian President of Tekeyan Cultural Association of US and Canada during his official visit to reinaugurate the Tekeyan Center of Buenos Aires, participated to the Act of Distinction of honorary members of local Armenian General Benevolent Union (UGAB).
Mrs. Anita Anserian, AGBU New York Center Director, who has arrived Buenos Aires for this occasion, read the congratulatory message of Mr. Berj Setrakian, President of AGBU International for benefactor Juan Chahinian.
The opening of the ceremony was done by Antonio Sarafian, Chairman, who explained the reasons of the Distinction act and praised the first receiver, Mr. Juan Chahinian who has donated extensively for the building improvements of Marie Manoogian Educational Institute and adjacent rooms of UGAB.
Other receivers were Arch. Aren Shaheenian, Locum Tenens of the Armenian Church, Marta Emirian, Chairman of Women’s Committee, Alejandro Kalpakian, President of All Armenia Fund Argentina, Dr. Khatchik Der Ghougassian, former editor of Armenia Weekly, Alejandro Tantanian, playwright, and Elena Achdjian, one of the first graduates of Marie Manoogian Educational Institute, teacher, former Director of the Armenian Department of the School and now visiting Director of Armenian Department of the Rosario University.
Also present were H.E. Hovhannes Virabyan, the Ambassador of Armenia in Argentina, representatives of the clergy of the Armenian Apostolic Church, numerous members of the community, the Board of Directors, Committees of UGAB and members of General Antranig Scouts of local UGAB.
