Poland president: We are considering increasing the number of our representatives in EU mission in Armenia

President of Poland Andrzej Duda said that he had a private conversation with president of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on the sidelines of the COP29 climate conference in Azerbaijan, and among other matters, discussed the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace process.

“I told the [Azerbaijani] president that I am going to arrive in Armenia on an official visit and asked him to present his point of view on the conflict issues that have been discussed in recent times. Fortunately, the peace process, the resolution of these conflict issues are progressing. It is very difficult, but the process is moving forward,” Duda said, and added that he discussed the same issues with the senior leadership of Armenia as well.

Reflecting on the European Union civilian monitoring mission in Armenia (EUMA), the president of Poland emphasized that this mission needs to be become stable.

“I had a meeting also with our [Polish] representatives who participate in the European Union mission in Armenia. We were also in the places where I met with the head of EUMA, Mr. Markus Ritter,” Duda told reporters.

According to him, this mission achieves certain successes in calming the situation at the Armenia-Azerbaijan border.

“Poland participates in that mission and is considering the matter of increasing the number of its representatives in that mission,” added the Polish president..

As reported earlier, however, Azerbaijan has expressed dissatisfaction with Andrzej Duda’s visit to the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
