72% of Armenians content with PM Karapetyan’s cabinet, Russian poll center claims

Despite the wide discontent prevailing in the Armenian society, a recent survey commissioned by the Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) found that 72 % of the population “positively evaluates” the cabinet led by Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan.
The survey, conducted in the pre-election period, also revealed that Karapetyan’s image positively affects the ruling Republican Party of Armenia, which has considerably improved its standing since the previous polls, VCIOM General Director, Valery Federov, told reporters in Yerevan.

“This outcome is very positive for Karen Karapetyan and his cabinet,” the pollster said, adding that they observed the population’s optimism about further progress and positive changes.

Meantime he admitted that the society is largely concerned by the socio-economic conditions. Federov said they found out that 55% of the population are discontent with the situation, with 37% complaining that it is deteriorating further and 32% observing no changes at all. Only 10% said they see positive dynamics, he added.
The survey was conducted from 17 until 24 March and covered 1,600 respondents residing in Armenia.
