Iran-EEU trade cooperation discussed with Armenian ambassador

Armenia’s ambassador to Iran on Sunday received officials of Cental Province to discuss plans for expanding the Islamic Republic’s trading partners’ networks thanks to Armenia’s membership in the Eurasian Economic Union.
The delegation was led by Mohammad Baharvand, the governor of the Merkazi province, the Foreign Ministry’s press service reports.
The sides unanimously agreed that Armenia can serve as a convenient transit route for transporting Iranian goods to the Eurasian market. They also considered a range of other bilateral cooperation issues, including the increase of the mutual turnover and possible investments in Armenia.

Ambassador Tumanyan briefed the guests on Armenia’s current economic conditions and the opportunities for foreign investors. He elaborated particularly on the existing trade regimes, the advantages of free trade zones, and the tax and customs legislation. The Iranian exports to the EEU market were considered as a separate issue.

The sides agreed to raise the level of mutual recognition by increasing the frequency of bilateral visits.
