Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Ambassador Andrzej Kasprzyk, is periodically informed of the tense situation on the Karabakh -Azerbaijani Line of Contact, the statement issued by the Armenian Defense Ministry press-service reads.
According to the statement, Armenian Deputy Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan met with the Ambassador Tuesday evening. Tonoyan briefed Mr Kasprzyk on the situation at the contact line and Azerbaijan’s provocative actions. The role of the OSCE in mitigating the tension in the conflict zone, as well as the necessity to urgently install monitoring and incident investigation mechanisms was underscored.
As per the operative information received from the Karabakh Defense Army, throughout Tuesday and at this moment the adversary continues to intensively shell the entire frontline and the civilian settlements, Karabakh Defense Army press-service reports.
Pursuant to the statement, the Azerbaijani side is using mortars of different calibers, 85, 100, 122 and 152 mm cannons, MM-21 (Grad) multiple rocket launcher, and 9M33 M3 anti-aircraft autocannon.
The Defense Army vanguard units are taking retaliatory actions to suppress the adversary’s “activeness” inflicting losses on its manpower and military equipment.
