Environmental impact of projects implemented in Armenia to be discussed in Geneva

The session of the Implementation Committee, which has been commissioned to watch the implementation of the Convention on Environmental Impact Assessment in a Transboundary Context (Espoo), is held in Geneva.

At the current session, the Committee members will discuss the measures taken by Ukraine in connection with the construction of the Danube-Black Sea Canal and extending the deadline for the Rovensk NPP operation.

The Committee will also consider the issue on the planned construction by Serbia of a power station working on xyloid coal. The plant will be located in the northeastern part of the country – on Danube river, not far from the border with Romania.

Apart from this, the Committee members will analyze what Armenia did for the assessment of the environmental consequences of the NPP construction in Metsamor.

The actions of Belarus and Lithuania in connection with the construction of Ostrovetsk NPP are also on the agenda.
