Sharmazanov: Armenian authorities have paved way for fair parliamentary elections in 2017

YEREVAN. – The Armenian authorities have paved the way for fair parliamentary elections in 2017.

Vice President of the Armenian National Assembly (NA) Eduard Sharmazanov, who is also the spokesman for the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), said the aforementioned in the parliament Tuesday.

In his words, the agenda of systemic reforms is traditionally put forward by the Armenian authorities. But this time they took practical steps to hold transparent parliamentary elections in 2017. The elections will be held according to the amended Electoral Code, which will practically rule out fraud and increase the confidence of the society.

“It is very important that the local municipal elections be held openly and transparently this fall, including in a number of large cities like Gyumri and Vanadzor. The active participation of the political parties in these elections is indicative of the irreversible process of developing democratic values in our country,” the Vice President noted.
