Prime Minister of Armenia Karen Karapetyan on Wednesday received Russian Railways OJSC Vice President Andrei Starkov, and South Caucasus Railway CJSC Director General Sergey Valko.
Press Office of the Government of Armenia informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that the PM welcomed the activities of South Caucasus Railway CJSC in Armenia, noting that the Company helps develop the railway sector in the country with a dynamic growth in transportation services. Karapetyan said the Armenian government is interested in the successful activities of Armenia-based companies and stands ready to intensify its efforts on expansion of cooperation.
On behalf of the management of Russian Railways CJSC, Starkov congratulated Karen Karapetyan on his appointment to the office of Prime Minister of Armenia, and wished him fruitful work. Starkov, for his part, briefed the Premier on the ongoing activities, achievements, and development programs of the South Caucasus Railway.
The parties discussed the prospects for development of cooperation and future activities the South Caucasus Railway. Prime Minister Karapetyan attached importance to the launching and implementation of regional programs to promote communication and tourism in the region. In this context, the sides exchanged views on the avenues for the development and modernization of transport infrastructure, increase of freight and passenger traffic, service accessibility and operational efficiency, and on several other matters of mutual of interest.
