Prime Minister of Armenia Karen Karapetyan on Tuesday received the delegation led by Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
According to the PM, the Armenian-UAE relations are one of the best examples of cooperation between Armenia and Arabic states, the Armenia-UAE high-level political dialogue creating favorable grounds for the expansion of economic and investment collaboration. Karapetyan stressed that the bilateral relations have recently entered a more practical stage, underscoring the importance of the agreements reached within the framework of the investment forum held in Abu Dhabi in 2017 and the visa waiver for the UAE citizens, which resulted in the significant growth in teh number of tourists from UAE.
Noting that the Government is taking consistent steps for improving the business environment in Armenia and attracting foreign investments, the Armenian PM proposed to consider opportunities for implementing joint projects in different spheres. In the context of developing cooperation, Karen Karapetyan welcomed holding of Expo 2020 Dubai, which Armenia will also take part in.
The UAE FM, for his part, noted that the country attaches importance to the continuous development of successful cooperation with Armenia and thanked for the visa waiver for the UAE citizens. In his words, there is great potential and opportunities for increasing the significant growth recently recorded in the sphere of tourism, it being necessary to work in that direction. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan considered promising the implementation of joint projects in the agricultural sphere.
At the meeting, the sides also discussed issues related to the development of cooperation in directions of mutual interest.
