The trade turnover volumes between Armenia and Iran totaled to $264 million in 2017, up by over 11% against the previous year’s data, Armen Israyelyan, an Armenian expert on Iran, said on his Facebook page.
The analyst expressed confidence the joint projects implemented in 2017, as well as the ongoing measures will enable to further deepen the economic ties between Armenia and Iran in 2018.
Israyelyan claimed given the Armenia-Iran visa free regime, as well as the relatively cheap prices for movement between the two states, the representatives of especially small and medium-sized businesses can study the Iranian market and perhaps will be able to import products at more affordable prices and with a higher quality than those currently imported from Turkey, China or the United Arab Emirates.
“The active steps of the Iranian side also mark a positive trend, with some Iranian companies relaunching their operations in Armenia,” he said.
The analyst also added the Iran-Azerbaijan trade turnover stood at $257million in 2017.
