In accordance with the results in 2014, exports from Armenia have fallen by about 8 percent.
Economist Gagik Makaryan, who is also Chairman of the Republican Union of Employers of Armenia, told the abovementioned at a press conference on Tuesday.
In his words, the main reason is the reduction in exports to Russia, since the purchasing power demand has dropped in this country.
“Under the conditions of the devaluation of the [Russian] ruble, numerous Russian partners are asking our exporters to cut down the price offers. Otherwise, they will not be able to sell the product. That is, in the case when the exports have dropped less in physical terms, [they have dropped] considerably in terms of pricing,” Makaryan added.
As for the current year, according to the economist, several problems will grow worse in spring.
“This refers to alcohol, fruit and vegetable preserves, juices, fresh fruits and vegetables, alike,” he stated.
