Armenian Genocide is referenced by Uruguay education ministry

The national education staff of Uruguay will focus on the Armenian Genocide.

The directors’ board of this agency noted about the aforesaid in a statement posted on the official website of the staff.

In this connection, the board has considered the genocide’s recognition by Uruguay fifty years ago, and the relevant declaration that was adopted in 2007 at a session of the Mercosur Parliament, which is the parliamentary institution of the Mercosur trade bloc comprising Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Venezuela.

The aforesaid statement also includes short information on the events that occurred in 1915 and the subsequent developments.

To note, Uruguay is the first country which in 1965 formally recognized the Armenian Genocide.
