Romania supports the activities by the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group.
Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Chamber of Deputies of the Romanian Parliament, László Borbély, noted the above-said at Tuesday’s talk with the President of the National Assembly of Armenia, Galust Sahakyan.
Sahakyan, for his part, underscored the role of the Romanian Armenian community in the development of relations between the two countries.
The Armenian NA speaker also expressed his satisfaction with the Romanian authorities’ attention toward the cultural heritage of Romanian Armenians.
In addition, he stated that Armenia is determined to deepen its institutional reforms within the framework of its relations with the European Union.
Borbély, in turn, noted that Romania was the first to recognize Armenia’s independence back in 1991, and their current visit to Armenia on the Independence Day anniversary is not a coincidence.
The MP said Romania closely follows the developments in this region, and supports the activities by the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group.
He added that the tragedy of the Armenian people, the Armenian Genocide, is the tragedy of all humanity, and it shall serve as a lesson for everyone.
László Borbély likewise highly praised the Armenian community’s role in the development of Romania.
The Romanian MP also underscored the mutual visits in terms of the development of interstate ties, and noted that Armenia-Romania economic cooperation needs to grow also along the lines of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) Organization.
