According to the data of 2013, penetration of the Internet in Armenia constituted 46,3%, Artashes Shaboyan, leading specialist at the Armenia’s Ameria Advisory Company said at the panel discussion held by Ameriabank on the perspectives of distance banking in Armenia. At the same time, connection of new users to the Internet strongly accelerated in 2008-09, when the penetration grew from 6,2% to 15,3%.
As a comparison, 1,3% of country’s population used the Internet in 2000.
The penetration constituted 25% in 2010, growing to 7% in the subsequent 3 years.
According to its average speed of Internet connection, Armenia has reached the indicator of 14 Mb/s, coming the 75th in the world pursuant to June 2015 data.
