The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) Azerbaijan, in response to the address by Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan in Vienna, made a series of absurd accusations.
Accusing the Armenian side of “not being interested in peace and stability, obstructing the peace process” and so on, the Azerbaijani MFA writes about the rights and security of Armenians in quotation marks, thus showing their true attitude. This is explained by the fact that “Azerbaijan equally ensures and will ensure the rights and security of all ethnic minorities living in the country.” Probably, just as the Azerbaijani authorities “ensured” the safety of Armenians during the pogroms of Armenians in Baku, Sumgait, and several other Azerbaijani cities.
The Azerbaijani MFA considers the current dire humanitarian situation in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) a “political adventurism” and “Armenia’s manipulation,” and says objecting to transportation through Aghdam is “an example of the groundlessness of these aspirations.”
Misrepresenting the decision of the UN International Court of Justice, Azerbaijan accuses Armenia of “distortion of the decision of the International Court of Justice.”
In the end of its statement, the Azerbaijani MFA accuses Armenia of not complying “with its commitment to open unobstructed transport routes from the eastern regions of Azerbaijan to Nakhchivan.” To note, this is about Azerbaijan’s attempt to get a “corridor” through Syunik Province of Armenia in order to later try to annex that part of the territory of Armenia as well.
