Deputy Russian FM: We see more and more demonstrative steps by Armenia to distance itself from Russia

Armenia’s ratification of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC) is part of a general trend towards distancing itself from Russia, Deputy Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov has said.

“This action, unfortunately, fits into a trend that has formed recently. On the part of Yerevan, we see more and more demonstrative steps aimed at distancing themselves from Russia,” he was quoted by TASS as saying.

“History, I am sure, will put everything in its place. The search for some patrons far away and the desire to please someone will not erase the unique historical bonds of friendship and mutual understanding that have developed over centuries between the peoples of Russia and Armenia,” Ryabkov added.
