Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has expressed strong disapproval of NATO forces’ presence in the South Caucasus region. This stance was conveyed during meetings with Armen Grigoryan, Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, and Khalaf Khalafov, the representative of the President of Azerbaijan for special assignments.
Raisi emphasized his concerns, stating, “The Zangezur corridor will become the basis for the presence of NATO forces in the South Caucasus, which poses a threat to the national security of the countries in the region. The Islamic Republic resolutely opposes this.” These remarks were reported by the IRNA news agency. Raisi made this statement during discussions with both Grigoryan and Khalafov.
According to the agency, representatives from Armenia and Azerbaijan provided the Iranian President with detailed reports regarding the current situation in the region.
