Tatoyan: Azerbaijani authorities launch new mechanism of large-scale falsifications

Former Armenian human rights defender Arman Tatoyan signals the launch of a new mechanism of large-scale falsifications by the Azerbaijani authorities.

“By falsifications at a new level, the Azerbaijani authorities are creating artificial bases for new demands and war criminal actions against Armenia. They started to give false examples of specific villages and towns of Armenia.

Our research into Azerbaijani state policy has revealed new facts. By falsifications on the example of specific villages or towns in Armenia (for example, in Syunik or Gegharkunik) “justify” that “as a result of pogroms committed by Armenians against Azerbaijanis deserted, Azerbaijanis deported, property expropriated”. The period, as a rule, covers the period from the beginning of the 20th century to the 1920s, and then falsify the facts of the 1980s.

This is a consistent policy, which is implemented on a large scale throughout Azerbaijan and abroad through the state and other power media, providing wide propaganda. First of all, they not only prevent the extinguishment of Armenianophobia and enmity in the society, but also deepen it.

That is, at first glance humanitarian issues are put forward, but in reality under this “humanitarian” veil political programs and bases of military aggression are being prepared and new territorial demands are being made towards Armenia. This policy underlies the atrocities of the Azerbaijani armed forces against Armenian soldiers and population.

This creates false grounds for demanding “compensation and territorial claims” to Armenia, allegedly returning to the so-called “Western Azerbaijan”, providing also the case of mirror-image repetition of ethnic cleansing and mass forced deportation of the population of Artsakh,” Arman Tatoyan wrote.
