The Armenian men’s chess team scored a victory in the last round of the European Chess Championship and became the vice-champion of Europe.
The Armenian team was competing with the Georgian team in the last round, and Aronian won his opponent on the first chessboard. Gabriel Sarksian and Hrant Melkumian tied their matches. Sergey Movsisian ended the last match and won.
The Armenian men’s chess team scored 13 points and became the silver medalist of the European championship. The Hungarian and French teams had the same number of points, but Armenia’s team exceeded them with additional points. The Russian team became the champion of the European Team Chess Championship.
