Iran expresses support to the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of Armenia. Iran’s Ambassador to Armenia, Mehdi Sobhani, stated this during a talk with reporters and analysts on Tuesday, February 6, 2024.
According to him, relations with Armenia, which are of strategic importance for Iran, serve the benefit of both countries and the region. Sobhani noted that the relations between Armenia and Iran were actively developing.
“The borders of the two countries were the most secure, they were a guarantee of peace and prosperity for the peoples of both countries. The trade between the two countries is growing rapidly, and relations are actively deepening within the framework of infrastructure projects,” noted the Iranian envoy to Armenia.
He added that the peoples of both countries supported each other in difficult times.
“Why are they threatening you? If you are strong, can they threaten you? If you are strong, no one will dare to threaten you. The reason for the absence of peace is the absence of military balance. It is within this framework that we [i.e. Iran] consider relations with Armenia to be strategic. There is a mutual understanding between the governments of Iran and Armenia, and we are going on that ‘road,’” the Iranian diplomat stressed.
