Moscow calls on Baku and Yerevan to make the issue of destruction of cultural heritage a subject of their bilateral negotiations. Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), stated this during Thursday’s weekly press briefing—and answering the question about the video evidence of the complete destruction of the 19th century Armenian church in Shushi city and of Karintak village of near Shushi, Nagorno-Karabakh, and the question about destruction in general.
“Taking into account the regular mutual accusations between Armenia and Azerbaijan regarding the destruction of cultural, historical, and religious monuments, we call on Baku and Yerevan to make this issue a subject of bilateral negotiations,” Zakharova noted.
She emphasized that Russia, in turn, is ready to provide any necessary assistance in this matter.
