Putin awards former ambassador of Armenia to Russia with Order of Friendship

Russian President Vladimir Putin has awarded the Order of Friendship to the former ambassador of Armenia to Russia, Vagharshak Harutyunyan, for his services in strengthening of the ties between the two countries. This is stated in the respective decree posted on the official portal of legal information of Russia.

“Vagharshak Varnazi Harutyunyan, a citizen of the Republic of Armenia, was awarded the Order of Friendship for his services aimed at strengthening friendship, cooperation, and mutual understanding between Russia and Armenia,” the decree reads.

Vagharshak Harutyunyan served as the Armenian Ambassador to Russia since 2022.

But on August 15 of this year, Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan appointed Gurgen Arsenyan, now a former member of PM Nikol Pashinyan’s ruling majority faction in parliament, as the new Ambassador of Armenia to Russia.
