Germany supports Armenia’s aspirations to establish good-neighborly relations with its neighbors and will make all possible efforts to establish final peace in the South Caucasus region, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier said as he welcomed Armenian counterpart Vahagn Khachaturyan at the Presidential Palace.
“Germany is interested in promoting the development of both intercultural ties and economic relations with Armenia, and I am aware that our interest is mutual. I also hope that in the near future it will be possible to fulfill my wish to visit Armenia,” Steinmeier said.
Expressing his gratitude for the reception, President Vahagn Khachaturyan said, “We highly value the close cooperation between Armenia and Germany in various directions, and Germany’s presence in our reality is significant and significant in various fields.”
“We appreciate Germany’s continuous support and contribution to the implementation of democratic reforms in Armenia. I am confident that in the near future our cooperation will continue to expand in the fields of economy, energy, culture, education and other directions, for which there is a bilateral desire and considerable potential,” the Armenian President said.
Referring to the situation and developments in the region, President Khachaturyan emphasized that Armenia is firmly moving towards achieving stable and lasting peace in the region, and for this purpose has launched the “Crossroads of Peace” program.
Referring to the Armenia-Turkey relations, the President noted that the Armenian side stands for normalization of relations without preconditions, and certain steps have been taken towards the creation and restoration of border infrastructure.
Vahagn Khachaturyan stressed that Armenia’s position is to have good-neighborly relations with all neighboring states, which is in the interests of all countries of the region.
“It is clear to us that without peace, stability and neighborliness, it is not possible to have the expected development in our region and, in general, in the whole world,” the president said.
During the conversation, the parties exchanged ideas on a number of issue on the agenda of cooperation between Armenia and Germany. Reference was made to a number of regional and global issues.
