Hemşin Armenian filmmaker’s Movie On Armenian Genocide To Hit Big Screen In Turkey

Hemşin Armenian filmmaker Ozcan Alper’s new movie on the Armenian Genocide will hit the big screen in Turkey in December.

Unfolding in 1940s, the movie “Memories of the Wind” tells the story of oppositionist journalist Aram who starts having flashbacks of his memories from the Armenian Genocide, making him suffer and face his inescapable past.

“One is unable to escape from the past,” the director said. “Ignoring the past will result in nothing… I am forty years old and I have just become a father.

When my daughter turns forty, I hope she won’t have to deal with the same questions I am facing now.  Therefore, my films strive to create a new “today.”
Also, the filmmaker hailed screening of “The Cut” by Fatih Akin in Turkey.
