Sara Corning statue unveiled in the city of Yarmouth

On September 14th, H.E. Anahit Harutyunyan, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Canada, attended the statue unveiling of Canadian Humanitarian, Sara Corning. The event took place in the city of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. Corning was a pioneer in international humanitarian work and saved thousands of Armenian orphans and helped then find refuge in Greece during the Armenian Genocide.

During her visit to Nova Scotia, Ambassador Harutyunyan also met with the Mayor of Yarmouth, Her Worship Mayor Pam Mood.

During the celebrations dedicated to Sara Corning, the Ambassador welcomed guests, thanked the event organizers, namely the Sara Corning Society, Yarmouth city counsellors, and to all those who donated their time and effort to make this event possible. The Ambassador highlighted Sarah Corning’s dedication and expressed her appreciation for her great contribution to the worldwide humanitarian mission.

Mayor and members of the Yarmouth City Council, representatives of the Armenian community, as well as Canadian-Armenian sculptor Garen Bedrossian, creator of the Corning statue, were also present at the event.
