On Tuesday October 10th, upon the invitation of the newly appointed Ambassador of Armenia H.E.Levon Mardirossian and his wife Mrs. Nané Adjemian, a reception was held at Armenia’s Embassy in Ottawa where a large number of the diplomatic representatives of different countries, Canadian officials and religious and lay representatives of the Canadian Armenian Community had gathered upon the invitation of Armenia’s Ambassador, to mark the 26th Anniversary of the declaration of independence of Armenia on September 21st 1991.

The Ambassador and his wife hosted graciously this reception in a very warm atmosphere. Following the official opening with the National Anthems of Canada and Armenia and the prayer pronounced by his Grace Bishop Abgar Hovagimian, Primate of the Armenian Church of Canada, the Ambassador, in his allocution gave a general political review concerning the achievement of independence by Armenia in 1991and the ensuing progress and challenges facing Armenia. He stressed the importance of Armenia’s relations with Canada which were established immediately after the independence 25 years ago. He expressed his determination to make every effort to render the Canada-Armenia relations even stronger and more productive during his tenure in this beautiful and hospitable country.

We wish full success to Ambassador Mardirossian in his important mission in Canada.
