On November 7, the concert entitled “For You, Armenia”, which is a concert dedicated to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide and is one of the final concerts held in several cities across the globe, was held in Vienna, reports the RA MFA press service.
The concert was organized by the State Commission on Coordination of the events for commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, the RA Ministry of Culture and the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Austria, in association with the organizers of the Yerevan Perspectives International Music Festival.
The concert was held at Grosser Sal, the major hall of the Musikverein Hall, which is one of the top concert halls in Vienna.
The concert began with a speech by RA Ambassador to Austria Arman Kirakossian, who admired the world famous musicians for supporting the Armenian people, sharing their pain and sorrow and fighting against future crimes against humanity through art.
The concert included performances of the works of Komitas, Babajanyan, Brahms, Rachmaninoff, Bize and other composers by Austrian-Armenian pianist Nareh Aghramanian and violinist Emanuel Tchknavoryan, famous cellist Misha Maisky and his family trio, as well as Liana Harutyunyan, Hovhannes Ayvazyan, Varduhi Khachatryan and Barsegh Tumayan, who performed Mozart’s Requiem with Salzburg’s Camerata Orchestra and the Bachchor Choir. The choir was under the direction of renowned Armenian musician George Pehlivanian.
Among the attendees were the heads of foreign diplomatic missions accredited to Austria and international organizations, diplomats, Members of the Parliament of Austria, several legislators and government officials and members of the Austrian-Armenian community.
