Armenia MFA: Each conflict requires targeted approach

The peacekeeping matters were never as urgent as now, since the Second World War and the victory over fascism during this war.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Edward Nalbandian, noted the abovementioned at Monday’s international peacekeeping forum being held in capital city Yerevan.

Nalbandian stressed that Armenia attaches great importance to taking part in peacekeeping activities and making a significant respective contribution.

As per the FM, bilateral cooperation is developing simultaneously, and considering the fact that the Armenian units carry out peacekeeping missions as part of the contingents from the US, Germany, and Greece.

He also noted that problematic matters should be resolved by means of politics, not force.

The Armenian FM recalled that the Nagorno-Karabakh peace talks are conducted with the OSCE Minsk Group format, and therefore all efforts by the international community need to be coordinated within this format.

He also noted the mediators’ initiative to create a mechanism for investigating the incidents along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and the Line of Contact.

In addition, Edward Nalbandian underscored the activities, at the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone, by the team of the personal representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office.

In closing, the Armenian FM highlighted that each conflict requires a targeted approach.
