Armenian PM Hovik Abrahamyan attended the subsequent session of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Sochi.
During the session, the heads of the EAEU member-states’ governments discussed a number of issues related to the development and expansion of the further cooperation in the framework of the EAEU. Specifically, reference was made to the draft agreement on the EAEU Customs Code, process of implementing measures ensuring the introduction of mechanisms of traceability of goods and document package related to drug circulation, which will launch the formation of the common drug market in the EAEU area.
Besides, certain issues related to the import and circulation of goods to the customs area of the EAEU were discussed, considering Kyrgyzstan’s accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO).
Referring to the issues on the agenda, PM Abrahamyan noted that the Armenian side attaches great importance to the adoption of the Customs Code. He also stressed that it is a serious step towards enhancing the Union’s legal framework, and thus should be equally applied and adopted by the member-states.
In the context of the issues related to measures aimed at establishing mechanisms of traceability of goods in the member states, Hovik Abrahamyan underscored the importance of the mechanism which consider Armenia’s peculiarities.
Touching on the documents regulating the drug circulation, the Armenian PM stressed the importance of the common principles of drug circulation in the EAEU, as well as the fast formulation of their application rules, which will bring out the EAEU states to a common market in this area, opening up new opportunities for the drug producers, including entrance to the markets of the third countries.
As a result of the session, the aforementioned documents, which enshrine the member-states’ cooperation in various areas of economy, were adopted. Besides, the protocol on Kyrgyzstan’s accession to the Agreement on the recording of ozone-depleting substances while implementing mutual trade of the Eurasian Economic Union Member States was signed.
The next session of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council will be held in Minsk.
