On February 20th, 2016, the official opening of the Vimy, Laval riding office for the Liberal M.P. representative, Mrs. Eva Nassif took center stage. The event drew a large number of supporters composed of community and organizational representatives, political officials and well-wishers. The opening speech was delivered by her political attaché, Mr. Vicken Darakdjian, who has been steeped in both Federal and Provincial political arenas.
Ms. Nassif began by extending a warm welcome, thanking everyone for their unconditional support and assuring her audience of her commitment toward humanitarian efforts.
As a confirmation of Ms. Nassif’s humanitarian efforts, it was communicated that within the first 100 days of holding office, she had acted on 2,000 Syrian refugee files one by one, in addition to meeting them individually in order to secure their transition into Quebec. Her active involvement and insatiable desire to extend a helping hand through her political endeavors, has gained her recognition as a referential point in Quebec, regarding the matter of Syrian Refugees.
On behalf of the strong delegation present from the Armenian Canadian Council, Ms. Aida Karibian, a long-time political activist in Federal politics and prominent Armenian community member, addressed the audience commending Ms. Nassif for her courage, perseverance and her good will towards others. “It is this type of humanitarian service that yields to hopes of creating a better tomorrow for all”, said Ms. Karibian. The Armenian Canadian Council is thankful to Ms. Nassif for her enormous involvement during the Syrian refugee crisis and her commitment for future cooperation regarding national issues of concern.
