The Council of Europe (CoE) assistance provided to the European Bank will ensure the Armenia-Georgia energy exchange process.
Hoa-Binh Adjemian, Head of Cooperation Section of the European Union (EU) Delegation to Armenia, stated the above-said at a discussion on energy efficiency. He noted this speaking on the EU activities aimed at the energy sector of Armenia.
Adjemian added that with the aforesaid process, Armenia will be able to export energy to neighboring countries, and also import cheap energy, especially from Georgia in summertime, where energy is much cheaper in that time of the year.
He noted that the CoE already has allocated a €120-million budget for this project.
The EU official also spoke about the assistance to the nuclear power plant of Armenia, and nuclear power safety. Hoa-Binh Adjemian stated that the systemic actions to save energy will enable to be independent from the energy produced by the nuclear plant, and to start using safer sources of energy.
