French Ambassador: Talks between Armenia and EU are being held successfully

The negotiation process between Armenia and the Eurasian Union on signing the framework agreement is going on successfully,   French Ambassador to Armenia Jean-François Charpentier told journalists Tuesday.

In his words, there are no serious issues in the negotiation process. “Apparently, we expect to sign the agreement as soon as possible,” Jean-François Charpentier noted, at the same time urging not to speed up the process artificially.

According to the Ambassador, as soon as an opportunity comes up, France will obviously speak for the fast signing of Armenia-EU agreement. “But let’s not go ahead of time. You all know that EU and Armenia wish to see a more expanded cooperation with quite ambitious approaches,” Charpentier stressed.

Referring to the possible difficulties in the talks, the Ambassador noted that the negotiation processes always include hard elements. “But the difficulties are exactly for overcoming them,” the Ambassador added.

Earlier, Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia,  Piotr Świtalski, stated that the final version of the EU-Armenia document includes some formidable provisions.
