Café Urban Burgery in Germany’s Cologne city has resumed production of “ Erdoğan – burgers” despite the fact that the company had to shut down for three days because of threats.
According to the café manager Joerg Tiemann, Urban Burgery menu will include burgers garnished with goat’s cheese as a “satirical answer” to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Russian BBC service reports.
In April, Erdoğan reacted angrily to German comic Jan Boehmermann’s speech, who read an obscene poem, implying the sex of the Turkish leader with sheep and goats.
The Turkish president filed a criminal complaint against the comic, demanding to hold him liable for the offence.
This case resulted in such heated arguments on the boundaries of the freedom of speech that Boehmermann was taken under the protection of the police.
