The recognition of the Armenian Genocide would help to avoid the current atrocities, the Italian Il Giornale writes. The article reads:
“The most genuine ethnic cleansing, ruthless and systematic, which cost the lives of million and a half men, women and children. The Armenian Genocide forgotten for a long time, now meets the refusal to be silenced, let alone be denied. The official historiography, many organizations and press refuse. However, not only Turkey, which answered sharply to the words of Pope Francis regarding the Genocide, but also other countries, including the U.S. and Israel, prefer not using that word. This will most probably affect their privileged ties with Ankara. But one thing is clear: the recognition of the Armenian Genocide would help to avoid many atrocities. Especially those taking place nowadays.”
