Red Cross provides medical kits to Stepanakert hospital, for the injured

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) stands ready to help in rendering assistance to those who have been affected by the escalation of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

The communications officer of the ICRC Yerevan Office—in Armenia’s capital city—, Zara Amatuni, told about the above-said to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“Being the only humanitarian organization in both sides [of the conflict], the ICRC follows the situation closely, and it stands ready to provide assistance to the humanitarian needs that have grown as a result of the escalation in recent days,” she noted.

In her words, Red Cross works in Nagorno-Karabakh toward assessing the needs.

At present, there are fifteen ICRC workers there, and three more were sent from Yerevan.

“If needed, the organization is ready to send more workers,” Amatuni added.

In her words, assistance to civil infrastructure repair is considered over the long run.

Also, ICRC is in constant touch with the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic Ministry of Health, and it stands ready to render necessary assistance.
