Amendments to SFOPS bill propose increased funding for Armenia, end to Azerbaijan aid

Armenian Caucus Co-Chair, Rep. Frank Pallone (D-NJ) has offered a bipartisan amendment with Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY) to the FY 2025 State and Foreign Operations (SFOPs) Appropriations Bill, which increases funding for the Republic of Armenia by $100,000,000 under the AEECA account, reports the Armenian Assembly of America.

This funding will support victims from Nagorno Karabakh currently residing in Armenia, who were forced to flee their ancestral homeland amid Azerbaijan’s full-scale attack in 2023.

Rep Mike Lawler (R-NY) has offered a bipartisan amendment to the FY25 SFOPS Bill, which prohibits funding to Azerbaijan until the President confirms to Congress that Azerbaijan has ceased offensive actions Armenians.
