Armenia begins process to purchase 84 additional units of ATAGS artillery systems – IDRW

The Armed Forces of Armenia have completed the testing of six units of the Advanced Towed Artillery Gun System (ATAGS) 155 mm/52 caliber towed guns supplied by India, according to the specialized website Indian Defence Research Wing (IDRW).

Sources from IDRW report that the guns have passed all operational tests conducted in various locations across the country. It is noted that the batch of six ATAGS 155 mm/52 guns has been programmed in Armenian at the request of the Armenian side.

“Additionally, several other modifications have been made to tailor the guns to the specific requirements of the Armenian Armed Forces.”

Although the artillery systems were initially tested in India, they had not been tested in Armenia for a long time,” IDRW adds. According to IDRW sources, the successful completion of these tests has allowed Armenia to begin the process of purchasing another 84 units of ATAGS guns from the manufacturer, Kalyani Group.

The acquisition of ATAGS artillery systems will significantly enhance the capabilities of the Armenian Army and provide a much-needed increase in the firepower of its artillery. These modern guns will be valuable in protecting the country’s borders and ensuring its national security,” said the IDRW source.
