Armenia could reach a new military loan agreement with Russia after the implementation of the current $100 million worth deal, Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan said in an interview to RIA Novosti on the sidelines of IDEX 2019 international defense exhibition.
“A new loan is possible, but it’s too early to talk about a specific weapons nomenclature,” he said.
As reported earlier, the minister also said Armenia plans to receive four Su-30SM multifunctional fighters from Russia in late 2019 or early 2020.
Kommersant Russian newspaper says Moscow has made serious concessions in the arms deal, not only granting a loan to Armenia, but also selling the fighter jets to the country at domestic Russian prices.
