Armenia FM, Finland parliament speaker discuss steps for deepening political dialogue between both countries

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan on Thursday met with the speaker of the Parliament of Finland (Eduskunta), Jussi Halla-aho, within the framework of his working visit to Helsinki.

The interlocutors discussed matters on the bilateral agenda between Armenia and Finland, Armenian News-NEWS.am was informed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia. Also they exchanged views on the current steps and further prospects for deepening political dialogue between the two countries, and emphasized the importance of active interparliamentary ties in this process.

Furthermore, the FM of Armenia and the speaker of the parliament of Finland stressed the interest in strengthening cooperation within the framework of the EU and other formats of mutual interest—and based on shared democratic values, the strengthening of resilience, and the goals of sustainable development.

“We see broad opportunities to build an ambitious agenda of cooperation in line with the active political dialogue established between Armenia and Finland, covering all areas of mutual interest, including the EU instruments,” stated the Armenian FM.

Ararat Mirzoyan and Jussi Halla-aho exchanged views also on regional issues and current challenges. In this context, the FM briefed his interlocutor on the vision of Armenia in establishing lasting peace in the South Caucasus, including the latest developments in the process of normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. And as an essential component of the peace agenda, FM Mirzoyan touched upon the Crossroads of Peace program developed by the government of Armenia and the ongoing discussions regarding its implementation.

And at the end of the meeting, Ararat Mirzoyan signed the book of honored guests of the parliament of Finland.
