At its Cabinet meeting Thursday, the Armenian government made a decision to open an embassy of Armenia in Hungary.
The respective explanation states that a meeting between the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Hungary, Ararat Mirzoyan and Peter Szijjarto, was held on December 1, 2022, on the sidelines of the OSCE Ministerial Council in Lodz, Poland, during which an agreement was reached to restore full diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Hungary is of great importance for Armenia as a European Union (EU) member state.
Armenian-Hungarian cooperation has great potential for development also within the framework of the Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement and the EU Eastern Partnership program.
The Armenian community of Hungary also plays an important role in bilateral relations.
And on May 6, 2024, Armenian FM Ararat Mirzoyan had made a return visit to Hungary at the invitation of FM Peter Szijjarto, during which an agreement was reached on the mutual opening of embassies in the capitals of the two countries.
