Armenian President: Ally relations between Armenia and Russia are developing dynamically

The ally relations between Armenia and Russia are developing dynamically, President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan said today at the meeting with the Russian FM Sergey Lavrov.

A the outset of the meeting, the President said that the aforementioned development of relations is due to periodical reciprocal visits at different levels, in the framework of which the meeting of the Armenian and Russian presidents took place in Yerevan and Moscow this year. According to the President, the communication between the countries’ legislative and executive authorities has a regular nature. In this framework, Sargsyan mentioned the intergovernmental and interpaliamentary committee sessions, the 4th Armenian-Russian Interregional Conference, etc.

According to the President, all these meetings and events were mutually useful and fruitful.

The interlocutors agreed that the cooperation in economic, military and humanitarian areas is developing between Armenia and Russia. Serzh Sargsyan highly appreciated Russia’s role in Karabakh issue settlement process, as well as in establishing security and stability in the region.

Mr Lavrov also expressed satisfaction with the progress and dynamically developing relations as a result of the Armenian-Russian bilateral cooperation in the framework of the integration processes. According to him, Armenia’s full membership to the EEU will certainly have its positive impact on the economic relations in terms of their further deepening and development.

Referring to the negotiation process of the Karabakh issue, the FM Sergey Lavrov once again stressed that the issue has no alternative besides peaceful solution.

During the meeting, the interlocutors also exchanged ideas on the current international issues and challenges.
