Opposition MP Tigran Abrahamyan has warned of Azerbaijan’s blatant efforts to stir up provocation on the border with Armenia.
In a social media post on Saturday, he pointed to a surge in the Azerbaijani disinformation campaign and intensified gunfire targeting Armenian combat positions in several border sections.
“No serious incidents have been recorded so far, which does not rule out that Azerbaijan could embark on a new military adventure escalating the situation,” the MP wrote.
“I don’t think Azerbaijan will resort to large-scale military actions (although the tensions may later escalate), but Baku could try to invade a number of dangerous border areas under the pretext of “border adjustments” as it did on other frontlines in 2020-2023.
“The threats increased especially after the Armenian authorities recognized the Azerbaijan sovereignty over some settlements under Armenian control, which, in fact, created favorable conditions for Baku,” Abrahamyan stated.
