Charge d’affaires of Sweden: EU wants formalized framework for cooperation with Armenia

The agreement between Armenia and the EU will become a so-called “road map” for future cooperation. Charge d’affaires of Sweden in Armenia Marten Ehnberg told the aforementioned to Armenian News – NEWS.am.

According to him, the agreement will have a positive impact both for Armenia and the European Union.

“We want to have a formalized framework for cooperation. And this is what I expect from these negotiations,” Ehnberg said.

Responding to the question on how fast the new agreement will be negotiated, the Swedish diplomats said:  “We don’t know, of course. It’s impossible to say. But since we have done most of the negotiations before – as you are aware, we did the negotiations on the Association Agreement and those negotiations were completed – I hope we can use most of the text that we have. But, of course, we have to change certain parts in accordance with Armenia’s new international commitments.”

The negotiations on the new comprehensive agreement aimed at deepening the bilateral relations between Armenia and the EU was officially launched in Brussels on 7 December 2015.
