Criminal case opened on Armenian soldier’s murder by Azerbaijan

The Military Investigation General Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia has launched a criminal case into an Armenian military serviceman’s killing by Azerbaijan.

Sergeant Levon Mirzoyan, who was assigned to military watch in the line of duty of the protection area of a military unit, sustained a gunshot wound to the head and died on the spot, on Tuesday at around 5:15pm, and as a result of the shot fired by the adversary to intentionally kill on motive of national, racial and religious hatred and religious fanaticism, the Investigative Committee informed.

Accordingly, the Military Investigation General Department has opened a criminal case pursuant to the Armenian Criminal Code article on murder, and a respective investigation is underway.
