Nokia proposed to establish research laboratory in Armenia

Vahan Martirosyan, Minister of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies of Armenia, on Monday received the representatives of the Nokia Company, led by Olaf Schulz, Head of Government Relations Europe/MEA at Nokia.

Minister Martirosyan expressed hope that Nokia would be represented in Armenia not only in the field of telecommunication, but also in digital infrastructure in the near future, the ministry’s press service reported.

Olaf Schulz introduced the latest projects of the company to Minister Martirosyan, underlining that they also included the field of digital economy.

The minister was also briefed on the perspective activities of the company in Armenia and the ongoing programs.

The minister proposed the representatives of Nokia Company to establish R & D (research) laboratory in Armenia, besides commercial representation, taking into account the availability of highly qualified specialists and prerequisites in Armenia. Vahan Martirosyan also offered the company to participate in the project of inputting 5G coverage in Armenia.

A number of issues of bilateral interest were discussed during the meeting, including Nokia’s experience in inputting a digital transport system.
