Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan and United States Agency for International Development (USAID)/Armenia Mission Director John Allelo have signed the amendment to the grant agreement for development cooperation between Armenia and the US.
As a result, the threshold of the amount being provided to Armenia within the framework of the aforesaid USAID agreement is more than doubled, from $120 million to $250 million, and the domains of joint projects are expanding, the government of Armenia informs Armenian News-NEWS.am.
The expanded agreement will cover key domains such as disaster risk management, cybersecurity, food and energy security, regional cooperation and trade, democratic processes, and inclusive economic development.
“What is important for Armenia is not only financial support, but also democratic values, creative ideas, and developed business culture promoted as a result of our joint programs. The investment of the latter in our country enables to carry out fundamental reforms and increase the quality of life of the citizens,” said Deputy PM Mher Grigoryan, thanking the US for assisting the implementation of Armenia’s agenda of ambitious reforms.
This amendment demonstrates the US commitment to its partnership with Armenia. By increasing the amount of US assistance and expanding its programs, it is helping Armenia to develop and succeed. The US work with the Armenian government and ministries has a crucial role in achieving its shared goals, said USAID/Armenia Mission Director John Allelo.
