Iran-EEU free trade zone talks in active phase – Armenian minister

The Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) is now in intensive talks with Iran over creating a joint free trade zone to facilitate the overturn, Armenia’s deputy premier and minister of International economic integration and reforms said today, highlighting the country’s active role in proposing the initiative.

“The negotiations are in an active phase. Our country’s delegation is leaving for Iran in the near future, and we are really hopeful to finish the talks in the months to come. We attach a great importance to our relations with Iran” Vache Gabrielyan told Tert.am.

Asked whether the agreement’s signing will be possible shortly after the completion of the talks, the minister refrained from any comment, saying that the process is “strictly confidential”.
Asked about the cooperation talks with China, Gabrielyan said he evaluates the process as rather balanced. “The negotiations with Iran end much sooner,” he added.
