The freight volumes totalled to 17.460.6 thousand tons in Armenia from January to August 2017, showing a 43.1% growth against the same period of the past year, according to the data released by the National Statistical Service (NSS) of Armenia.
The recorded increase was mainly prompted by the rise in motor vehicle freight volumes. In particular, the volume of automobile freight amounted to 14.538.4 thousand tons in January-August 2017, rising by 51.1% compared to the indicated period of 2016.
The rail freight volumes comprised 1797.7 thousand tons in the indicated period, showing a 7.6% growth against January-August 2016.
According to the NSS statistics, the highway pipeline freight shipping made up 1109.6 thousand tons (24% growth) and the air freight volumes amounted to 14.9 thousand tons (53.6% growth) in January-August 2017.
